The Amnesty Cabinet
Oak and ebony
Dimensions: 94cm x 30cm x 20cm
This cabinet was commissioned as a gift for someone who worked for Amnesty International. The vertical ebony “bars” are reminiscent of prison cells.
‘A furniture maker’s life is full of repetition. I’ve tried to make a virtue of this “problem” by emphasising rather than resisting it. My work is therefore often composed of multiple and layered components. Over the years, these works have become ever-more complex, involving more components, shaped in increasingly complex ways.’
